Final Project for year 12 in ID

Final Project.

Photoshop Edits

so i started with the image i manipulated before and took off the edits that would give the wrong message from my image. i then started out by adding in some of the key sells after inserting guidelines correctly.

I have put rulers onto my photo shop document in order to give me the ability to leave borders so we can have 2 clean lines on the front cover. i have done this to 0.7 inches each side of the front cover.

Some of the image adaptations I left were the dodge and burn tool, blur and sharpen and the RGB.

In this image below, you can see i have used the text type tool and the shapes tool to create the box and button sells as well as the top banner.

after this I filled in the button sells and i managed to create All the normal sells like the free digital edition N's the what next? James bond sells. 8 did have my fair share of problems when it came to sorting out the image and getting a good cutout of shelly's head and getting it in front of the total film title. I feel like this worked really well after a few attempts at it however in front felt that the image still had a rough edges which if the cover was based on a critics notepad or diary but the cover isn't based on that. I had a look at the film title sell and i really wanted to make it look a bit like a tattoo on shell's arm but after searching through the Internet for fonts and after the amount of ICT problems I had with trying to get the total,  film font for eagle bold installed in the system I decided that I'll work out what to do with that sell later.

I then decided to pick a colour scheme and the one I chose was red, white and black because I feel that these colours Are very masculine as well as fitting in with the house style of the total film magazine. Once I had chosen my colour scheme I decided that the top needed to stand out and what better colour to do this than yellow.

after choosing all my colours for the colour scheme, I was then able to start with My strobing effect. I then offset all my red and white colours so they went red and white alternating on each line meaning that the text all shows up as alternating colours.

In this next image, i have placed in all my button sells strategically and neatened up my cutting out of Shelly's head.  The way I have cut out Shelly's head is i went into the tools tool bar and I selected the paths tool and once I had created the paths I then managed to sort out the cut out by adjusting the paths and making sure they have caught as little of the black background on the cloned version of my image as possible. Once I had done that I deleted the background and i made sure that everything was layered correctly and fitted correctly. I then worked on my top masthead and altered it by putting in the Rewind 2014 banner. I did this by creating a black auto shape as well as a text box. I did this in order to make my magazine cover look more professional and authentic when it comes to simulating the front cover of total film.

While I had a chance I also went and dealt with the title I wanted to put on as if it was a tattoo to make the image slightly more manly. As I couldn't find a suitable font that would install in the Fonts user on the network,  i had to go and sort it out with strobing. I also resized and repositioned this sell. I also adjusted the masthead slightly as it was slightly off in positioning at the top of the page. I also inserted a white button sell by using the auto shapes tool in order to create a circle on the page. I then went and put the text in that I wanted to place within  the sell. I also did a stars sell on the M of the film in order to highlight an award that the company has. i also started on the film strip at the bottom all of James Bond films up to sky fall in present day.

I then got to work on my text for the title and all of my sells on the side of borders and text border colours. i used black on white as well as red. i also repositioned (Again) my main sell purely because i didn't feel as if it was right the way it sat in the last image. i also feel that there were certain things that didn't work about it such as positioning of the text and sizes. i also inserted a bar code onto the magazine.

I also see that this would work with the leading and the weight of the borders adjusted hence that is what i have done here with the text that are in different positions. i have varied my line weights to keep everything interesting on the page (The weights vary from 1pt all the way up to 4pt)
I have varied my text sizes also. Things that need to stand out i have put in a larger font size and a small to medium amount of the weight (3pt to 4pt) whereas in the less important text i have put very little in when it comes to weight on the borders on my text. (1-2pt)

Indesign Project

I started by setting the amount of columns to 3 on the document. after doing this i then went onto sorting out the text. i inserted the report as text flow in Indesign. I did this by inserting the clear boxes and putting the text in by using the file and place method. Once I had done this I then used the same method to insert the images including the front cover. After this I was presented with these

Image 2 here

image 3 here

If you scroll down you will see that the 2 image sets are different. I tried to set the background colour as black but in doing this the programme thought my page was black (as I'd clicked the wrong button) so it came out as shown above. I also used the images from the sourcing report I did during this year as they were related to the report.

My First Indesign Experiment

In using indesign i have used a lot of different tools such as the text tool, the image insert tool and i have resized and adapted font on text. i've learnt how to effectively use indesign. i've learnt how to do allsorts in terms of creating text, inserting images, and looking at how the gridlines and everything in that respect works.

After having another look at my indesign experiment i have been able to learn more and more about the different functions in indesign. examples of this include the FX Tool, The line tool, The colour tool (fot text) and the stroke tool. you can see the results below:

so as you can see it looks very different from what it did before, as seen below:

As this project grows it will be  added to more and more. like you can see below:

In the below image i have added colours, Drop shadow at 20% Opacity (Transparency Level). as well as that i have used the polaroid effect on all of my images. this is when images are placed in frames to highlight them on the article. we also looked at text wrapping quote inserts as seen below:
